If you are good in software you can make good money.  Being a successful Software Engineer is tough, just like anything in this world that is worth obtaining.  Recruiters are currently seeing high demand for Software jobs, so now is the time to pursue these opportunities!

Many of the Software Developer positions don’t require a formal education like a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science; rather, experience is the driving force for these jobs.  Make sure you are listing any relevant jobs or experience on your resume when applying for any Software Developer positions! First hand experience and the ability to develop stable smart codes go a long way in getting you hired.

Make sure you study languages that get you a job.  Talk to other Software Developers, listen to podcasts, do your homework…really do your homework.  I’m not an expert but I would say you would be pretty safe with C, C++, C#, Python, JavaScript, Java. Start building your online profile and get examples on the internet- GitHub is a great example of where to start with this.

I also want to mention passion.  Don’t go after Software Engineering if you don’t have passion for writing code.  Figure out if this career path calls to you. If you are feeling somewhat indifferent about pursuing career opportunities in this field, you might want to reconsider.  Chances are you aren’t going to stick it out when times are rough.
